The career I chose

                                                           The career I chose.
For some time I have tried to decide on what career path I should choose it was between a veterinarian or a library technical assistant, in my junior year I finally chose to be a library technical assistant. The definition or job a library technical or library assistant is skilled librarian professionally trained to perform day-to-day functions of the library & assisis the librarians in preparing & organizing information for them. They also assist librarians in finding information. The computerized information storage & retrieval systems have resulted in the library technicians in the handling of technical services that librarians use to perform. I am interested in becoming a library technical assistant because I enjoy reading & I enjoy being in the library & working/ helping out in the library.
The first library held what consisted of archives, the earliest form of writing, clay tablets in cuneiform script (which was discovered in the Sumer) some were dating back to 2600 BC. The private or personal librarys that was of written books were found in Greece in the 5th century BC.  In the 6th century, of the Classical period, Constantinople & Alexandria would remain as the two great libraries of the Mediterranean. The Sumerians were the first to train their clerks to keep a record of their account they were called "Masters of books" or "Keepers of the tablets". The clerks were scribes or priests who are trained to handle vast amounts & the complexity of these records. In the 8th century BC Ashurbanipal the king of Assyria created a library in his palace. Ashurbanipal was the first in history to introduce librarianship as a profession. At Alexandria the librarians were considered as the "custodians of learning".
A library technical assistant needs a master's degree in library science. You can choose what ever major you want to do. If you want to become a librarian you have to go to a librarian school & get a masters in library science. The goal or the requirements I would need are a high school diploma as well as on-the-job training to a specialized associates degree that is designed for those who want to become a library technical assistant, also you would need computer skills. Assistant librarians help with showing people how to use the library catalogs, databases, & the index to locate end books or materials as well as answering questions that only need brief consultation to standard reference; to compile records, to sort & shelve books, to remove or repair eny damaged books, to register patrons, to check materials in & out of the circulation process, to replace materials in the shelving area or files. The income range for a library technician assistant is $14.00.
The negative part about being a library technician assistant is that I might encounter people who would be disrespectful, & people who are hard to deal with because they don't want to listen to reson when you try to explain something to them. The posative part about being a library technician assistant is that you might meet nice people & if you love to read (like me) you would have access to all the new books before eny one else.
Yes this career is good for me because I enjoy it i have been even been helping the school Library in the morning & during my lunch period (when I don't have homework to do). &  I actually found out that I really enjoyed working there as well as helping out; I then realized that this is the career I want.
